Our Project

Gio Nadareishvili

I am a professional trekking guide certification from the Adventure Tourism School, a local school for adventure activity guides. I also have experience as a mountaineering and climbing guide.

I live in Rustavi (Georgia), a city located near the capital, Tbilisi. As a small child, I had no idea that I was going to be a guide. In my mid-teens, at the age of 15 or 16, I started hiking and exploring Georgian nature.

I started to ask myself: Why not make this hobby a life-long job?

Who are we?

Gio Nadareishvili, mountain guide in Georgia and Louis Zarandia, student who lives in Switzerland.

We have been friends since we met in a climbing gym in Tbilisi (Georgia) in autumn 2019. During this time we became friends and learned how to work well together.

So I became a trekking guide and then I started climbing and mountaineering. I saw new possibilities and my soul was filled with new emotions propelling me to become a professional mountaineer and mountain guide.

Working as a guide, I see an opportunity to promote my small -but-big, modest-but-great, temperate-but-hospitable, Georgia. This, a country with a great history, extraordinary nature, unique culture, and rich in architectural sites.

Louis Sandro Zarandia

I grew up in Switzerland, in a small village at the foot of the Jura Vaudois. I hold a degree in International Relations from the University of Geneva.

I am an avid mountain sports enthusiast, engaging in activities such as climbing, trekking, and ski touring. My dual identity as Georgian through my father and Swiss through my mother has given me a deep understanding of Georgia, thanks to numerous trips to the country during my childhood.

Since my early years, I had the idea of creating a project that could bring together my two origins. Promoting the heritage and beauty of Georgia, still relatively unknown internationally, has been on my mind for a long time. This aspiration materialized when I guided friends through Georgia in July 2019 and later studied Georgian for four months in Tbilisi that same year.

Therefore, I decided to establish Georgian Summit Expedition with my friend Gio Nadareishvili, a mountain guide in Georgia.

What is our idea behind this project?

We are promoting nature, the emblematic Georgian mountains: Mount Ushba, Mount Kazbek, and also regions that are still wild such as Tusheti and Svaneti.

We are promoting adventure by mainly offer tours accompanied by mountain guides, accommodation in family B&Bs in order to support the different aspects of tourism in Georgia.

We are sharing culture, and would like to make our Swiss and international clients dream to discover the incredible Georgian welcome and hospitality and make them want to come back.

Environment

We have an ethical goal of eco-responsibility. We would like to propose green tourism that is respectful of the environment.

To fulfill this mission, we have decided to levy a carbon tax on the price of airline tickets to meet our environmental policy.

All the dividends collected by this tax will be reinvested in various sustainability projects in the country. We also plan to train our guides and future generations in ecology and respect for nature and its landscapes.

We hope that this project will inspire you as much as it inspires us, and we hope to see you soon on one of our tours.
